Deep Oscillation Therapy

At Hull Sports Massage we have introduced this new and exciting modality to our clinic as it has been evidenced to work in all areas of musculoskeletal injury and pain. We can boast that we are the Sports Injury Clinic in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire to support DEEP OSCILLATION® THERAPY.

What is DEEP OSCILLATION® therapy?

The use of DEEP OSCILLATION® allows the creation of effective oscillations in the treated tissue whether it be muscle, tendon or ligament using electrostatic attraction and friction. Because of the non-invasive, non-traumatic, gentle nature of this therapy, very early application is possible following injury and from Day One postoperatively. Chronic conditions can also be worked upon with effective results.

Many professional teams and athletes are utilising DEEP OSCILLATION® for recovery from injury and as a preventative measure as It offers similar benefits of recovery as deep tissue massage yet without the surface pressure discomfort. Its impact has been recorded up to 8cm deep into the tissue offering a significant impact on the deeper structures.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Intermittent, electrostatic, massage therapy
  • Supports and enhances all physical forms of therapy
  • Non-invasive, non-traumatic and non-thermal
  • Safe over plates and pins and is effective for an immediate, acute injury
  • It can be applied post-operatively

What makes DEEP OSCILLATION® unique?

In contrast to externally applied mechanics forms of therapy, DEEP OSCILLATION® takes place within the tissue itself and works through the entire depth of the tissue layers; skin, connective tissue, adipose tissue (fat), muscles, the blood and the lymph to a depth of 8cms.

What can DEEP OSCILLATION® be used for?

All forms of musculoskeletal injury, including:

What happens during a DEEP OSCILLATION® treatment?

The tissue is electrostatically charged and vibrated at specific frequencies to elicit specific therapeutic treatments.

High 80-200Hz (80-200 times per second):

  • Reduction in pain and increased lymphatic drainage
  • Break down of cellular metabolic waste – proteins, solids, acids, and toxins
  • Causes and breakdown and dispersal of hardened fibrotic tissue (knots)

Low 5Hz-25Hz:

  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Directly relieves peripheral nerve pain and limb immobility
  • Powerful pumping effect of oedema and lymph
  • Encourages the flow of essential nutrients around the body

Medium 25Hz-80Hz:

  • Aids microcirculation in the interstitial spaces on the tissue
  • Boosts recovery from DOMS – removal of lactic acid
  • Relaxes tissue layers and promotes mobility and movement

Physiological effects of DEEP OSCILLATION®

Some of the physiological effects and benefits of DEEP OSCILLATION® therapy include:

Clinical effects of DEEP OSCILLATION® Therapy

DEEP OSCILLATION® has been shown to reduce fibrotic tissue formation and help in its mobilisation through the lymphatic system and out of the body. This is most evident in its astonishing impact on reducing lymphoedema. The impact is similar on areas of cellulite, reducing not only the visual signs but also the underlying cause.

As DEEP OSCILLATION® reduces fibrotic cell formation and increases new collagen formation, it has a benefit on restoring tissue elasticity, its ability to stretch and return to its normal state, thus making it firmer. Various studies have shown DOT reduces deep lines and wrinkles as well as the appearance of bags under the eyes.

Some other benefits include:

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Preventative fibrotic conversion process – fibrosis reduction
  • Strong pain-relieving potential
  • Muscle relaxation
  • Increased mobility
  • Wound healing
  • Preventative in premature skin ageing

Cellulite Treatment

Oedema Reduction

DEEP OSCILLATION® positively affects all cellular and molecular mechanisms of cellulite. It improves blood and lymph flow in the deep skin and subcutaneous layers diminishes inflammation and oedema, the girth of the thighs and posterior decreases.

Rough Fibrous Septae Disruption / Improvement of Skin Elasticity

DEEP OSCILLATION® disrupts or prevents the formation of rough fibrous septae and reduces the sensitivity of skin cells to oestrogen hormones. This provides effective treatment of cellulite in 80% of women. As skin elasticity increases, fibrosis is reduced.
